Illegal gas engineers cost the UK £100,000,000

Posted in: General News

According to the BBC, illegal gas jobs are costing the British public a whopping £100 million a year to rectify. This continues the well documented trend of cowboy gas fitters who are carrying out dodgy work which then costs an average of 25% extra by properly qualified tradesmen.

The Gas Safe Register recommends that you always use an engineer who is on the register to “fit, fix and service your gas boiler, cooker or fire.”

Additionally, they caution to never trust someone on first impressions or recommendation, always do your due diligence, and make sure you know who is carrying out hugely important work on the appliances in your home.

cer conduct full pre-employment checks on all gas engineers who work for us, including proof of Gas Safe Registration, ACS tickets and criminal record checks, among many more.
